Entry 247: Edge of Spider-Verse IS OUT!

Edge of Spider-Verse #3
Is Out Now
Hello, my friends, good people still checking in on my blog, I have a new comic out today!

That's right, my Edge of Spider-Verse issue is now out! This is the comic where I have written, drawn, and colored it all myself. It's a big deal for me. Please pick it up from your local comic shop or buy it digitally or whatever.

It's new reader friendly. It is a complete, stand alone story. You don't need to know anything about the Marvel universe to appreciate this story.

Thank You.

  1. Thank's for all the kind words, Frank. It really means a lot to me.
It's been kind of strange experience checking out the reaction to it around the internet. I'm not displeased with the reaction. The people who like it seem to like it for all the reasons that I like it and the criticisms generally fall into categories of things I care less about. That isn't to say that some of the criticisms aren't totally right. But, for the most part it's been positive.
I'm already talking to Marvel about doing the writer/artist thing again. We'll see how it goes. I'd be happy to just focus on my own projects but Marvel has presented an opportunity that might be cool... We'll see how it goes.
I wanna ask how the shop is going. Are you living the dream?

  2. I'm my toughest critic when it comes to the store. I still have a long way to go to make it the type of place I want it to be.
On the plus side, it's been a year-and-a-half now and I have a good rapport with my customers & am making ends meet in what we all acknowledge is a tough marketplace.
No regrets, I enjoy digging into the day-to-day work involved, and it's definitely where I should be at this point in my life.
I tend to focus on the big picture - to too great an extent, very possibly - and, as I recall we discussed once before, I look at this opportunity & this stage of my life as just part of the overall palette, with family coming first.
All that having been said, I do keep in mind that it is a dream job in a lot of ways, and it's been a source of great pleasure to me to be able to recommend work such as yours to my customers when they might not be aware of it.
I've just finished crunching numbers for four days & submitted my entire store order for Nov. last night, which is always a bit like being underwater as it approaches deadline, so I might have been able to offer a more chipper answer if it wasn't that time of the month :) I should get some sleep tonight.
I appreciate you asking how the store is doing. If you're ever back in your old San Diego stomping grounds, the beverage of your choice is on me.
Glad to hear that Marvel has floated the idea of more writer/artist work for you. I've sort of been anticipating creator-owned work from you being published by Image or Dark Horse somewhere down the line, but, yeah, one never knows where & when the opportunities may arise.
Glad the book is being well-received. I haven't checked out any reviews yet - bad habit of mine with all art. I tend to want to see it exclusively through my own lens - but I'll probably stumble across a couple by the weekend.
Hey, it's selling well in my store ;)
Take care. I'll pop in again soon.

    1. Frank! I did read this on my birthday. It was my only online happy birthday. I guess not getting "happy birthdays" online is the price I pay for not being on Facebook or twitter. Oh well.
So, yours was extra special. Thank you!

  4. Your welcome!
(And you're better off without Facebook & Twitter. Seriously. You'll feel like you're on call 24/7.)
